Taryn Hopkins
Masters of Public Policy
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington
Currently completing a Masters of Public Policy at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington (VUW), Taryn is sharing her passion for government and public service with the SDGs NZ. Her Masters programme is focused on gaining the expertise that policymakers need to create fair and operational policies that make life better – locally, nationally, and internationally.
Through connections developed within her postgraduate programme, Taryn became a part of the SDG NZ Team. Her role on the project revolves around creating, editing and researching digital content to promote the Sustainable Development Goals in New Zealand, such as through official articles, newsletters and social media platforms. She also works as a Travel Information Advisor at Waka Kotahi – NZTA working towards her public sector experience.
Taryn is originally from South Africa and migrated to Aotearoa when she was 7 years old. Her background and upbringing has shaped her appreciation and understanding of SDG values and what they stand for in different communities. Her empathy and passion for working with people, especially in a multicultural and mixed ability environment has developed her enthusiasm for working towards providing strong and inclusive policies.
